My Passions!

Photography and Film are my biggest passions!

I got really interested in photography when I took my Dad's camera into our garden and started taking photographs of flowers. I enjoyed getting close up to the flowers and capturing rain drops that had fallen on the leaves. Since then, (about 2011) I persuaded my parents to buy me my own DSLR camera and I now have a Canon 1100D. I've even got lenses and filters that I love to experiment with!

I'm currently studying Photography at college which I really enjoy as this year we have to complete a critical investigation that we've chosen. Without a brief, it seems pretty vague and at first I didn't know what topic to choose because you could do just about anything. I chose to investigate churches because I love the beauty and joy that they bring. I wish I could photograph weddings, maybe that is what I'll do in the future...who knows?

I love film - watching films and making them. I enjoy the theory behind the production and the process of brainstorming ideas and story boarding before putting it together and showing it as a successful film. I'm currently studying Media at college and hoping to study Film and Television at university as I would love to become a producer or work on the cameras. Recently, I went to an open day at the University of Bedfordshire and I directed the short film that we had to make about the course. I loved being "thrown in at the deep end" knowing that the five of us would be able to produce a film after knowing each other for about fifteen minutes!

Two of my short films are on my YouTube channel which I am really proud of. They were the first films I was asked to make at college. I want to continue making films for myself but it's hard to find time in between college and my personal life. It's definitely something I'm planning to make time for in 2015 as making films is something that makes me truly happy.

What are you passionate about? Have your hobbies and interests influence your work or life choices?

That's it for now,

First Things First!

Before I start, I would like to tell you a little about myself.

Firstly, I'm writing this blog for myself rather than an audience because I need a new place to share my opinions. If an audience does grow from here, I guess it would be a bonus.

Secondly, I'm really interested in making my own short films and Film Studies is what I'll hopefully be studying in September 2015!

I have posted two films on to my YouTube channel which I am so proud of. The first "Geography!" was a project to promote the Geography course at college and was a lot of fun to film with my class. It gave me a lot of confidence to express my interest in film making.

My other film "Soul Space" which I made in July is part of my Media Studies coursework. It was one that I am very pleased with because it was edited with the BBC and I got to record a voice over which was a new experience.

I also made another film in 2012 which was part of a project for my youth group when we went on a residential trip.

I've been thinking hard about starting a blog and have done it a few times but then either stopped posting or deleted the whole thing! I don't want it to be anonymous, I've decided, because I know that people will find it and I don't want it to be incredibly personal. (If it's so personal, why post it online, right?)

After reading Girl Online by Zoe Sugg (Zoella) I realized that anyone can be a successful blogger. I loved Zoe's book so much and I am really proud of what she has achieved. I look up to her like thousands of other young people do, not only because she is beautiful, talented and successful but also because she reminds me so much of one of my best friends when I was growing up. They are really similar, both in personality and appearance. Watching Zoe's videos always reminds me of my friend and kind of keeps our friendship going as I don't see her as often as I'd like to anymore.

I guess that's it for my first post. I'm planning to post once a week and even add some photographs once in a while.

That's it for now,
